What is post apocalyptic?
Post Apocalypse is a genre within the wider genre of Science Fiction. It is concerned with life after an apocalyptic event such as a nuclear holocaust, alien attack, climate change, major disease outbreak, etc. Typically it involves the survival of the few who remain. The most famous of post apocalyptic stories is that of the great flood from the book of Genesis in the Bible. Where Noah and his family must rebuild the human population after it is all but wiped out by a flood.
It is said that the genre gained popularity after world war two when the possibility of a real world apocalyptic event was at the forefront of peoples minds. This was of course due to the rapid growth of nuclear weapons and threats from abroad.
At Post Apocalyptic HQ we understand that we all have differnt preferences when it comes to the genre and we will sometime drift a little from the strict definition that it involves the story of survival after an apocalyptic event. Many great books, movies and games also detail the apocalyptic event itself which can add tremendously to the plot.
